Missouri Interscholastic Press Association Founded
Walter Williams, with the help of E.W. Tucker of the Kemper Military School in Boonville, Mo., founded the Missouri Interscholastic Press Association. MIPA promoted journalism to middle and high school students and teachers, a mission the organization still serves today. By 1929, representatives from approximately 300 schools belonged to MIPA.
Dean Walter Williams, only a high school graduate himself, helped establish MIPA for high school journalism students.
