First Trans-Atlantic Phone Call Made
|
Faculty, students and guests of Journalism Week 1927 listened to the first trans-Atlantic telephone call from Columbia, Mo., to London on May 12. Ralph H. Turner, BJ '16, news manager at the United Press, made the call to the UP London bureau, which lasted six minutes and cost $162.
