Walter Williams School of Journalism Proposed

 
The School of Journalism alumni association recommended to the Board of Curators that the Journalism School be renamed the "Walter Williams School of Journalism." Williams opposed naming a state-supported institution for a living person and stopped the motion.

Completed in 1937, Walter Williams Hall was named after the founding dean, who died in 1935.
