First Endowed Chair Established
|
Alumni and friends, led by Martin Umansky, BJ '40, led the fundraising efforts to establish the School's first fully endowed faculty chair in honor of Leonard H. Goldenson (1905-1999), founder and chairman of the board at ABC. The chair promotes the development of education and research programs to help local television stations better serve their communities and was first filled by Professor Charles Warner. The School's second faculty chair, the Meredith Chair in Service Journalism, was endowed in 1986 and held by Professor Byron Scott.
Following the establishment of the endowed chair in honor of Leonard Goldenson (top), the Meredith Corporation, publisher of Better Homes and Gardens, among other titles, created an endowed chair filled by Professor Byron Scott (bottom).
