Combining print, television and Internet newsgathering into one newsroom was a revolutionary concept when The World Company in Lawrence, Kan., initiated the concept in the fall of 2001. Today, the Lawrence Journal-World is the acknowledged leader in convergence journalism. The spirit of innovation continues with the recently introduced Marketplace project, a comprehensive online directory of city businesses. In this presentation, you will see how local companies can manage and personalize their listings with photographs, videos, coupons and notices about upcoming special events. LJW General Manager Al Bonner will share how media companies can develop Marketplace sites as a means to regain control of an eroding local advertising base.
