Gustin Golf Course Missouri Press Association Announces Centennial Golf Classic Golf enthusiasts will have a chance to tee-off the social side of the Missouri School of Journalism Centennial and Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute Dedication with the Missouri Press Association's Centennial Golf Classic. The golf outing will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the University of Missouri's A.L. Gustin Golf Course. [More]

Scholarly Symposium to Highlight 1908 as a Pivotal Year in American Journalism Authors of the forthcoming book, Journalism—1908: Birth of a Profession, will take a look back at the year 1908 and its role in the history of American journalism. The symposium, "From Whence We Came to Where We're Going," will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Donald W. Reynolds Alumni Center on the MU campus. [More]

Walt Whitman Documentary to be Presented by Filmmaker Mark Zwonitzer, BJ '84 Called "artfully enthralling" by TV Guide, filmmaker Mark Zwonitzer's PBS documentary, Walt Whitman, has been nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards. Zwonitzer will show the film from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 10 in Jesse Auditorium during the School's centennial/dedication celebration. The presentation will be followed by a discussion with Zwonitzer. The event, co-sponsored by the MU Department of English, is free and open to the public. [More]

J-School Barbecue Bash to Kick Off Centennial/Dedication Celebration Sept. 10 The J-School Barbecue Bash will kick off the centennial/dedication celebration with a tasting menu of barbecue by Grand World Champion pitmaster Mike Mills. Affectionately known as "The Legend" in the world of barbecue, he is the father of Amy Mills Tunnicliffe, BJ '86. Centennial Song to Premiere at Opening Festivities The official song of the Missouri School of Journalism Centennial, "Coming Back Again," will premiere Sept. 10 during the centennial/dedication opening ceremonies in Mizzou Arena. Written and produced by Nashville songwriter Jenn Schott, BJ '97, and adjunct professor Jack Smith, BA '62, the song will remind Missouri Journalism alumni of their roots at Mizzou. [More]

"Freedom Sings™" Performance to Launch 2008 Centennial-Dedication Activities "Freedom Sings™," a critically acclaimed multimedia experience featuring an all-star cast of musicians, will open the Sept. 10-12 centennial/dedication celebration of the Missouri School of Journalism and the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute. The 90-minute event will be held the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the University of Missouri. [More] Freedom Sings
