Name: Amy Pierce
Degree and Year: BJ '92 (News-Editorial)
Company: Times Record/The Morning News
Title: Page Designer
City and State: Fort Smith, Ark.

What do you do?
I build feature pages, which involves editing copy, developing a concept for the section front, working with the graphic artists to execute the design and ultimately paginating the pages.

What do you particularly enjoy and what makes you good at your job?
I enjoy seeing the pages come together from raw copy and art. I'm good at my job because I complete pages quickly, but accurately.

What are your current projects?
I do a zoned feature section that appears in the Sunday Morning News called Our Town, I do a section for the Times Record that appears on Fridays called Generation Next, which focuses on schools and children. I do the Sunday Living section for the Morning News. I also do an occasional entertainment page.

What was the best professional lesson you learned at the J-School?
I learned to be confident in my abilities, and to be organized and reliable.

What are your future career plans?
I would like to get back to doing news pages before too long. The hours are bad, but the content is more interesting.

What is something about you that may surprise people?
Although I have a journalism degree and have done reporting in the past, I don't like to ask questions. I prefer to sit back and observe.
