Degree and Year: BJ '00 (Magazine) Company: Build-A-Bear Workshop Company Web Site: http://www.buildabear.com/ Title: Head of Creative City and State: St. Louis, Mo.
Currently, I am head of creative for Build-A-Bear Workshop, the original make-your-own stuffed animal retailer based in St. Louis, Mo. I oversee how the brand is represented in all aspects of advertising, marketing and public relations. How did you get your job? I worked in magazines as an art director and creative director prior to taking this position. I also had freelanced for some large corporations, working on advertising and marketing materials. So, when I saw this position on Monster.com, I applied. What is the best professional lesson you learned at the J-School? To be self-sufficient; seek out answers on my own. What advice do you have for current students? Have fun, and work hard. I know that sounds simple, but it really isn't. What is your favorite J-School memory? Late nights working with the magazine staff in the magazine office. I spent so much time there that I think it is my J-School experience in totality.
