Chris Stewart, BJ '02

What do you do?
I am the director of Web communications at the University of Denver, which means I:

  • Lead the University's efforts in strategic content development and management.
  • Manage the department of Web communications and directly oversee the University's home page and other mission-critical, top-tier Web pages.
  • Advise the University community on Web content and online marketing strategy.

How did you get your job?
I was approached by staff in the University of Denver's communication office to apply for the position.

What is the best professional lesson you learned at the J-School?
Professionalism, a good work ethic and paying attention to details are three critical keys to success.

What advice do you have for current students?
Non-"news" students, take a grammar or advanced news writing class. Especially for those of you interested in non-agency work, the lessons you learn will pay dividends.

What is your favorite J-School memory?
Witnessing the chancellor and key University leaders surprise Cyndi Frisby during class with a Kemper Award.
