Kristen Hare, BJ '00

Kristen Hare, BJ '00, is working as the assistant lifestyles editor and writer of the Sunday centerpiece for the St. Joseph (Mo.) News-Press. Hare recently became the youngest winner ever of the Darrell Sifford Memorial Prize in Journalism, administered by the J-School. [More]

Neil Kessler, BJ '00, is director of corporate communications for Heath Holdings USA, Dallas, Texas.

Melissa Miller, BJ '00, is an editor with the Spencer County Journal-Democrat in Rockport, Ind. After earning her degree from MU in Dec. 2000, Miller worked for a twice-weekly newspaper in Washington, Mo., for two years and then moved to Northeast Michigan where she was a freelance feature writer for a daily paper in Bay City until becoming editor in her current job. Miller says being an editor is rewarding, "but I'd go back to J-School in a heartbeat! I have the Journalist's Creed posted behind my desk to remind me what my job really is."

Nannette Bell, BJ '01, is living in San Diego, Calif.

Karyn Dest, BJ '01, is a state government relations manager for the The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta, Ga.

Erin Howard, BJ '01, is media relations coordinator at Cleary Gottlieb Steen and Hamilton in New York City.

Bill Medley, BJ '01, is a business reporter at the Evansville Courier & Press in Evansville, Ind. He previously worked at the Sedalia Democrat in Missouri where he was the reporter and writer for a series of stories that won the 2004 Associated Press Managing Editors award for Public Service. The stories uncovered mismanagement in the office of the county public administrator, created to manage and conserve finances of people who cannot take care of themselves.

Molly Bender, BJ '02, is an account coordinator with Richmond American Homes (National Marketing Division), Denver, Colo.

Sara Louise Hiatt, BJ '02, was a staff writer and columnist for The Alibi, an alternative weekly in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is now a features designer for The Sun News in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Erynn Hedrick, BJ '02, MA '04, is an art assistant at Real Simple in New York City.

Kimberly Rohles, BJ '02, is sales assistant at Fox Broadcasting Company in Chicago.

Christen Terry, BJ '02, started a new job working as an account executive at The Integer Group in Lakewood, Colo. Terry's new position involves doing national promotions for Coors Light.

Jennifer Zahner, BJ '02, works in marketing at Jireh Cycles in Festus, Mo.

Brian Connolly, MA '03, is a copy editor with The Buffalo News, Buffalo, NY.

Michael Davis, BJ '03, is account executive at Belo Interactive/KMOV.com in St. Louis, Mo.

Tim Dyer, BJ '03, is creative manager at The Marketing Arm in Dallas.

Claire Grant, BJ '03, is an editorial assistant at Hearst Magazines in New York City.

Jennifer Kane, BJ '03, is an Account Executive at This Week Publications in Kahului, Hawaii.

Carly Kaufman, BJ '03, is a media relations specialist and account coordinator at MediaCross, Inc. in St. Louis, Mo.

Frances Sayers, MA '03, is living in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Caitlin Thompson, BJ '03, is online assistant for PBS/Newshour with Jim Lehrer in Arlington, Va.

Sarah Conard, BJ '04, is a staff photographer for the Cincinnati Enquirer, Cincinnati. Conard first met Ken Amos, presentation editor of the Enquirer, during a campus recruitment visit. From that initial interview, she was granted a summer internship, which was followed by a full-time job. Conard says "the recruitment program is a wonderful opportunity for students to get interviews with editors, and in my case, it really jump-started my career".

Erin Eschen, BJ '04, is Web content editor and project manager at MonsterCommerce.com in Belleville, Ill.

Rachel Felix, BJ '04, is creative advertising intern with Cooking Light magazine in Birmingham, Ala.

Ryan Johnson, BJ '04, is working as an assistant ad executive on the Clorox Specialty Businesses account for DDB Worldwide Communications Group in San Francisco. Johnson was hired as a direct result of a campus visit by Erica Behnke, BJ '97, an account executive with DDB, who says she is thrilled "to have another Tiger in the fold."

Megan Moriarty, BJ '04, is assistant media planner at Nicholson Kovac, Inc. in Kansas City, Mo.

Lindsay Powers, BJ '04, is a reporter at the New York Post in New York City.

Sarah Protzman, BJ '04, copy editor and designer at The Daily Sentinel in Grand Junction, Colo.

Ebony Reed, BJ '00, MA '04, is teaching newswriting at Cleveland (Ohio) State University and working as a reporter at The Plain Dealer.
