When
JACK J. SMITH, BA '62, retired from Leo Burnett Co., Worldwide, in 1994, he was a member of the company's board of directors and its six-person executive committee. He was a group president and deputy chief creative officer, supervising creative operations in 64 offices around the world. During his years with the agency, Smith worked for such high-profile clients as Hallmark, United Airlines, Seven Up, Nestle, Heinz Ketchup, McDonald's and Oldsmobile. His work has earned both national and international awards, including three Cannes Film Festival Lions, more than 20 Clios and numerous Addy, Mobius and Effie awards. Smith has written, produced and directed more than 40 commercials for the University of Missouri, including advertisements for its football, men's basketball and women's basketball programs. In addition, Smith created the theme, composed the song and created the videos for the "For All We Call Mizzou" campaign, which aims to raise $1 billion for the University of Missouri-Columbia. Smith has been involved actively in Missouri alumni organizations. In 1994, the MU Alumni Association honored Smith with a Faculty-Alumni Award, and in 2001, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award for the College of Arts and Sciences.
