The New York Program
About the New York ProgramThe Missouri School of Journalism's New York Program offers Missouri Journalism students a unique program of study, a network of colleagues, faculty guidance and summer residence in the media capital of the world, New York City.
EligibilityYou must be a junior, senior or graduate student at the Missouri School of Journalism. You should not have participated in the New York Program in a previous summer. Students with a minimum of 3.0 GPA who have completed the first course in their sequence are eligible for admission to an internship program. All students should be in good academic standing. FeesThe cost of the New York Program is $4,175, plus tuition and fees. This includes housing at the New School, internship placement assistance and internship program supervision. Other costs to consider include flight, transportation within New York City, meals and entertainment.
InternshipsYou will be serving an internship in New York City for the length of the program. You are ultimately responsible for securing your own internship but are highly advised to contact Phou Sengsavanh, who can assist you in setting one up. There is no set timeline for applying and securing an internship, but it is best to start as early as possible (ideally during the fall semester) as many New York City media outlets fill up their internship placements at the beginning of the calendar year. HousingStudents will live at the William Street Residence at the New School. Located in the heart of lower Manhattan, students will be within a two- to three-block radius of all major subway lines. The cost of housing is covered in the program fee. Students will be staying in suite-style dorms that include 24-hour security, Internet and cable. 2008 Timeline
