Mike McKean, an associate professor and chair of the information technology committees for the School and the University of Missouri-Columbia campus, and Esther Thorson, associate dean of graduate studies, have been named to the 2004 roster of Apple Distinguished Educators.

Apple Distinguished Educators are among the first to make effective use of technology to support learning objectives in the classroom. They present their successes at key conferences and events, lead hands-on workshops and model effective administrative leadership and professionalism.

"It's an honor to join with more than 300 teaching innovators throughout the U.S. and Canada who've been named to the program since its inception 10 years ago, " says McKean. "As students bring a mobile, digital lifestyle to campus, we need to adapt our teaching methods to take advantage of that experience."

McKean and Thorson will participate with other Apple Distinguished Educators at Camp Apple, which will be held in July at California State University in Monterey Bay.
