About the Commemorative Book...

A full-color, hardbound book, which commemorates the centennial celebration of the Missouri School of Journalism and dedication of the new Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI), is in production. We will add updates about the status of the book as new information is available, and we have a firmer publication date.

The generosity of two key supporters of the School is making the book possible: VML, a worldwide interactive digital agency based in Kansas City, and Walsworth Publishing Company, known around the world for its superior work in yearbooks and special publications.

If you would like to order a copy of the book, please send a check for $60 ($50 for the book; $10 for postage within the continental U.S.) to:

2008 Commemorative Book

Commemorative Book: 1960-1969 A sample two-page spread from the commemorative book is shown above. The book features many photographs and highlights from Missouri Journalism's first century.

Update: April 15, 2009
Much progress is being made on the commemorative book.

  • The section that covers 1908-1969 is in the final review stage.
  • The layouts for the pages that cover 1970-2008 have just been completed, and we are beginning to proofread and review.
  • The celebration section, which covers the Sept. 10-12, 2008, centennial/dedication festivities is in the layout-and-design stage.
  • The commemorative book will have a centerfold which highlights 100 events and activities from Missouri Journalism history. This section is under development.

We anticipate that the book will be completed sometime in the summer.

Update: Feb. 4, 2009
The original outline for the commemorative book has expanded, and our projection of completing it by the end of 2008 proved to be optimistic. The final version will be bigger (and we think better). Our goal is to have the commemorative book published and to you by early summer.

You can look forward to 200-plus pages of Missouri Journalism history, pride and influence in a full-color, hardbound book. The final chapter will highlight our September 2008 centennial/dedication celebration.
