Convergence Journalism Emphasis Area Early Enrollment Program

Application Deadlines


  • Spring Admission: Oct. 1
  • Summer/Fall Admission: Feb. 1
If these dates fall on a weekend, your application will be due the Monday after.

How to Apply


The Convergence Journalism Emphasis Area Early Enrollment Program is a 3-credit introductory class that teaches students techniques in radio, television, photojournalism and Web production.

It is open to students who wish to major in convergence journalism and have met the following requirements:

  1. Completed at least 45 hours of college credit (including Principles of American Journalism and Career Explorations) by the end of the current semester.
  2. Have an MU GPA of at least 2.8.
  3. Have completed or intend to enroll in J2100 News and J2000 Cross-Cultural Journalism by the semester you wish to take J4802 Fundamentals of TV, Radio & Photojournalism.

Students are admitted on a space-available basis and will be notified of admission prior to pre-registration.

Applications are due Oct. 1 for spring admission, Feb. 1 for summer/fall admission. The application form is available at:

Students who wish to take J4802 as an elective but do not wish to major in convergence journalism also need to fill out the application form. Elective spots are made available on a case-by-case/space-available basis.
